Fede Álvarez has confirmed that Don’t Breathe 3 is in the works, with a finished script and both original stars returning.

The director made the announcement at the film’s tenth-anniversary screening at Beyond Fest on September 26. Jane Levy and Stephen Lang will reprise their roles as Rocky and the Blind Man.

The celebration took place at the MUBI Theatre in Santa Monica’s Aero Theatre. The Q&A lineup included Álvarez, co-writer Rodo Sayagues, Levy, Lang and Dylan Minnette.

The 2016 original became a surprise hit, opening to about $26.4 million domestically and earning more than $157 million worldwide against a production budget of roughly $10 million.

Its 2021 sequel earned $53 million during the pandemic era. Lang has previously said he would only return “when the script really works” — and Álvarez now says the script is written.

Álvarez co-wrote the first two films with Rodo Sayagues, who directed the second installment. No release date or studio start date has been announced yet.
