Central Sector Scholarship Renewal Deadline: October 31
The renewal process for the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Protsahan (PM-USP) Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship (CSSS) for the 2026-27 academic year is underway, and students who received the scholarship in the previous year must renew it online to continue receiving financial assistance for higher education. The last date to submit the renewal application on the National Scholarship Portal, scholarships.gov.in, is October 31, 2026, while the deadline for institute-level verification is November 15, 2026.
Who is eligible to renew
Renewal is not automatic: students must continue to meet the prescribed eligibility conditions. Applicants must have secured at least 50 per cent marks in the previous year’s examination, maintain the required attendance of 75 per cent, and continue pursuing a regular course at a recognised institution. The scheme, administered by the Ministry of Education, provides financial assistance to meritorious students pursuing higher education after Class 12, with the scholarship intended to help meet some of the expenses of undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
Documents and how to apply
Students should keep their previous year’s marksheet, a student or bona fide certificate from the institution, Aadhaar details, bank account details, an income certificate if required, and the current year’s fee receipt if requested. To apply, they must log in to the National Scholarship Portal using their One-Time Registration (OTR) credentials, select the PM-USP CSSS renewal application for 2026-27, check their personal, academic and bank details, fill in the required information, upload the requested documents and submit the application, saving the acknowledgement for reference.
The scholarship amount depends on the student’s course and level of study, and the approved amount is transferred directly to the eligible student’s bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer, subject to successful verification and approval.
Officials have advised students to complete the process well before the deadline, as late submissions cannot be considered. Applicants should also ensure their academic and banking details are accurate, since errors can delay verification and the transfer of funds.
