Drishyam 3 Crosses Rs 300 Crore, Biggest Hit for Ajay Devgn

Abhishek Pathak’s crime thriller Drishyam 3 has become Ajay Devgn’s biggest hit ever as a lead actor, crossing the Rs 300 crore mark at the domestic box office in its first 10 days while closing in on Rs 500 crore worldwide.

After 10 days in theatres, the threequel has amassed Rs 370.80 crore gross and Rs 309 crore net in India, along with Rs 479.80 crore globally. On its second Sunday, the film earned Rs 22.50 crore from 14,872 screens, a decline of just over 15 percent from its second Saturday collection of Rs 26.50 crore. Its second weekend added up to Rs 63.50 crore, after a second Friday of Rs 14.50 crore.

A record-breaking run

The film passed the crucial Monday test with Rs 21 crore on its first Monday, slipping below Rs 20 crore on Tuesday through Thursday with Rs 19.50 crore, Rs 15.50 crore and Rs 13 crore, before bouncing back over the second weekend. Its opening-week collection stood at Rs 245.50 crore, following a massive opening weekend of Rs 176.50 crore.

In the process, Drishyam 3 became the first film of Devgn’s career to enter the Rs 300 crore club as a lead actor. It overtook the lifetime domestic earnings of his 2020 film Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, which stood at Rs 279.59 crore, and its worldwide total of Rs 479.80 crore has also surpassed Tanhaji’s global lifetime gross of Rs 361 crore. Overseas earnings now stand at Rs 109 crore.

The film has emerged as the fourth highest-grossing domestic hit of 2026. It is now within Rs 20 crore of Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan’s period war drama Border 2, which has earned Rs 329.43 crore, and trails only Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge at Rs 1149.30 crore and the Neem Karoli Baba biopic Hanuman Ansh at Rs 334.48 crore. Globally, Drishyam 3 is the second highest-grossing film of the year, behind Dhurandhar 2.

New competition arrives

The film benefited from the lack of new Hindi releases this past weekend, after the makers of Udta Teer pushed its release from October 9 to October 23. But fresh competition arrives this week: Rajinikanth’s Tamil action thriller Jailer 2 releases on Thursday, October 15, while Ranabaali, Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam and Nayyi Naveli arrive on Friday, October 16.

The third instalment in the franchise stars Devgn alongside Tabu, Rajat Kapoor, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta and Kamlesh Sawant, with Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj joining the cast. The threequel takes a different path from its source material, Jeetu Joseph’s Malayalam film Drishyam 3 starring Mohanlal, which released earlier this year.
