Packers Rout Bears 31-7 As Jordan Love Throws For 367 Yards
Jordan Love threw for 367 yards and two touchdowns as the Green Bay Packers exacted sweet revenge on the Chicago Bears with a commanding 31-7 rout at Lambeau Field on Sunday.
Love’s 367 yards is the most by a Packers quarterback against the Bears at Lambeau Field. He completed 25 of 31 passes, connecting with Christian Watson for two long touchdowns — a 42-yarder in the first quarter and a 53-yarder in the third — while MarShawn Lloyd scored twice on the ground and the defence forced five turnovers.
A statement second half
Leading 14-7 at half-time, Green Bay outscored Chicago 17-0 after the break. Watson finished with six catches for 143 yards, Matthew Golden added a career-high 123 receiving yards with six receptions, and the Packers controlled the ball for nearly 12 minutes of the first quarter to set the tone early.
Xavier McKinney intercepted two passes from Bears starter Tyson Bagent, who was pulled for Case Keenum early in the fourth quarter. Chicago turned the ball over on four straight second-half possessions, and never looked like mounting a comeback.
Revenge served cold
The win avenged last season’s painful NFC wild-card playoff defeat, when Green Bay blew a 21-3 half-time lead and lost 31-27 in Chicago. Bears quarterback Caleb Williams celebrated that victory by grating cheese on the field, mocking the Packers’ Cheesehead fan base — but he missed a third straight game on Sunday with a hamstring injury, with Bagent starting in his place.
The victory moved Green Bay to 3-2 and above .500 for the first time this season, keeping them firmly in the NFC North race. Chicago’s only points came late in the first half, when D’Andre Swift punched in a one-yard touchdown to cap a 19-play, 78-yard drive that consumed more than nine minutes. It briefly cut the deficit to 14-7, but Green Bay slammed the door after half-time and the Bears never threatened again.
