Kenya Reports First Ebola Death in Imported Case

Kenya has confirmed its first imported Ebola case after a Kenyan man who had been living in the Democratic Republic of Congo died in Nairobi.
The man fell ill about a month ago in the DRC, travelled by road to Kampala in Uganda, and flew to Nairobi on October 3 before dying late Monday night.
He passed through airport screening at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and was later taken to Nairobi Hospital, where tests confirmed the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola.
Kenyan health authorities have identified 28 people who came into contact with him, including relatives and health workers, Health Minister Aden Duale said.
Officials are also tracing 23 passengers and four crew members who travelled on the same Jambojet flight from Kampala.
The case is linked to the DRC's ongoing Ebola outbreak, the second-largest ever recorded, with more than 8,000 cases reported. The World Health Organization has advised against imposing travel and trade restrictions on Kenya, the DRC and Uganda.
