Next Xbox Will Be a ‘Family of Devices’, CEO Sharma Says
Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has told staff that the next Xbox generation, Project Helix, will ship as a "family of devices" rather than a single console.
In an internal town hall, she said: "We are moving to a family of devices for Gen-10. There is not one device that fits all," according to a transcript obtained by Windows Central.
She said there will be "a great console first" but that many players are on the go, and that Microsoft will manufacture some hardware itself and partner on other things.
She also said the new operating system is starting to look really good, implying a bigger break from the current Xbox interface.
Project Helix is built on a custom AMD chip and designed to play both Xbox console and PC games. Microsoft plans to send alpha hardware to developers in 2027.
Microsoft has not confirmed a launch window for the next generation. Reports suggest 2027, but rising component costs could shift plans.
