Congress Youth calls Delhi march on Oct 10 over voter list row

Congress Youth has called a march to Jantar Mantar in Delhi on October 10. The protest is against what the party calls the deletion of 130 million voter names from electoral rolls across the country. The call came through a post by party leader Abhijeet Dipke on X.
Delhi is bracing for the event. More than 26,000 police and security personnel will be deployed in the capital on October 9 and 10. Liquor shops in several areas will stay shut on both days. Some trains have been cancelled and the exits of some metro stations will stay closed, officials said.
Delhi Police said no formal permission has been granted for the march. The Congress claims thousands of its workers were detained in the run-up to the protest. Opposition leaders also plan to meet President Droupadi Murmu over the issue.
The party says the voter list revision is an attack on the right to vote. The Election Commission has not responded to the specific claim of 130 million deletions. Security will remain tight around central Delhi through the weekend. Traffic curbs are likely near the protest zone.
