SGT University launches sports law centre CSLAW

SGT University in Gurugram has launched the Centre for Sports Law and Athlete Welfare (CSLAW), its School of Law announced on October 9. The centre will focus on athlete rights, sports governance and the welfare of sportspersons.
The launch event featured Ruhi Paul of the centre’s leadership and wrestler Sakshi Malik. Their presence underlined the link between law and lived sporting experience.
India’s sports ecosystem is growing fast, and legal disputes around contracts, doping and selection are rising with it. A dedicated academic centre can train the lawyers the field needs.
The university said CSLAW will work on research, policy and athlete support. It will also create a platform for athletes to understand their rights.
As Indian sport professionalises, sports law is becoming a career in its own right. The centre arrives at the right time.
The centre will offer research programmes and workshops. Athletes can seek guidance on contracts and disputes. Faculty includes legal scholars and former players. The university plans national seminars on sports governance.
