India’s AI Startups Raised $438M in Q3, Up 265% in a Year

Indian AI startups raised $438 million across 35 deals in the July-September quarter. This is up 265 per cent from a year ago, as per Inc42.
AI became the most-funded sector of the quarter. This is the first time a sector topped the charts on the back of a single big round. Emergent raised $130 million.
In the first nine months of 2026, AI funding crossed $1.1 billion. Overall, Indian startups raised $2.2 billion in Q3, up just 5 per cent.
The boom is very concentrated. Four companies, Yotta, Emergent, Sarvam and Freehand, took about 90 per cent of the AI funding. Only $9 million went to the rest.
Cleantech was second with $433 million, up 267 per cent. Fintech fell 11 per cent to $249 million. Ecommerce dropped 31 per cent to $245 million.
Most investors see some froth in AI valuations, Inc42 said. But capital keeps flowing to frontier sectors.
