Goa Police file unnatural death case in Nana Patekar death

Goa Police have registered an unnatural death case following the death of veteran actor Nana Patekar. The case was filed by Panaji Police under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
Police Sub-Inspector Nitin Naik is leading the inquiry. According to police records, the 75-year-old actor was brought dead to the casualty ward of Manipal Hospital in Bambolim from his residence at Ocean Park, Dona Paula, early on Thursday.
Doctors said he was brought in between 4:20 and 4:30 AM. Medical staff performed CPR for about 45 minutes but could not revive him. He was declared dead at 5:20 AM. Initial reports point to a cardiac arrest.
Police will conduct a panchnama, examine the post-mortem report from Goa Medical College, and record statements of family members. Officials stressed that registering such a case is standard procedure when a death occurs outside a hospital. It does not by itself suggest foul play.
Patekar was cremated with full state honours at his farmhouse in Donje village near Pune on Thursday night. His son Malhar performed the last rites.
