India questions Pakistan on terrorism at UN over Azhar reward

India has accused Pakistan of doublespeak on terrorism at the United Nations, saying Islamabad is trying to hide its support for terror groups. India exercised its Right of Reply in the UN General Assembly’s Sixth Committee on Wednesday.India’s First Secretary to the UN, Raghoo Puri, said Pakistan announced an enhanced reward for capturing Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar to gloss over its record. He called the move a gimmick.“What happens when terrorists are financed, facilitated, trained, sheltered, or supported from the territory of a state?” Puri asked.
He said the world has not forgotten the 9/11, 26/11 and Pahalgam attacks.Puri said Pakistan presents itself as a frontline state against terrorism and a victim of it, while masking the fact that its own creations have turned on the country. He questioned how Pakistani media could contact Azhar if Islamabad did not know where he was.The Sixth Committee deals with measures to eliminate international terrorism. Puri said terrorism cannot be defeated by declarations alone and demanded action against perpetrators, financiers and sponsors.
