Delhi Opens 24/7 AI Pollution War Room Ahead of Winter Smog

The Delhi government has opened a round-the-clock Integrated Command and Control Centre to track pollution sources across the capital in real time.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the Delhi Pollution Control Committee facility at the DMRC IT Park in Shastri Park on October 1. The centre operates under the principle of “Detect, Analyse, Act, Verify”.
More than 700 construction sites measuring over 500 square metres are being watched live through AI-enabled CCTV cameras. If PM10 levels rise at any monitored site, the department and the site owner are alerted immediately.
Mechanical road-sweeping machines are tracked by GPS, and new cameras monitor open waste and biomass burning. Field officials inspecting industries must wear body cameras so violations are recorded.
Rapid action teams called Vayu Rakshaks have been deployed with GPS-enabled vehicles across 39 divisions. The launch is part of the winter action plan, which also includes a construction ban from November and curbs on non-BS-VI vehicles.
