SC to hear pleas on NEET, Jantar Mantar protests

The Supreme Court will on Friday hear a batch of petitions linked to the student protests that erupted in July over the NEET paper leak and alleged irregularities in competitive examinations.
One of the petitions, mentioned recently before the Chief Justice's bench, seeks directions to the Delhi Police to allow peaceful protests in the capital. The plea comes amid concerns over police restrictions on demonstrations, including recent protests against the Election Commission's voter-list revision.
The bench comprises Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana.
Separately, the court on Monday agreed to list a petition seeking permission for peaceful protests at Jantar Mantar against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The plea argues that students, citizens, party workers and MPs have all been blocked from protesting peacefully.
The July protests were led by student groups demanding accountability over the NEET paper leak. Multiple FIRs were registered against protesters, and the court has been monitoring the fallout since.
