Gravita India sets up recycling arm in Mozambique

Gravita India has incorporated a recycling subsidiary in Mozambique, expanding its footprint in Africa's circular economy.
The new unit will be based in Maputo and handle recycling operations in the region. Gravita's core business spans the recycling of lead, aluminium and plastics, turning scrap and used batteries into reusable raw materials.
Africa is a key growth market for recyclers, with rising volumes of scrap metal and end-of-life batteries as economies industrialise. A local presence helps companies secure feedstock and serve regional customers.
The Mozambique move fits Gravita's strategy of building greenfield recycling capacity near emerging sources of scrap. The company has been steadily adding overseas plants to diversify beyond India.
Recycling stocks have drawn investor interest as global manufacturers seek greener supply chains. For Gravita, the Maputo subsidiary adds another node to a network that already spans Asia and Africa. Commercial timelines for the new plant will be watched in coming quarters.
