Supreme Court to Hear West Bengal Voter Roll Case on Oct 30

The Supreme Court will hear the West Bengal voter roll revision case on October 30. The case concerns the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in the state.
Petitioners have challenged the revision process. They say genuine voters risk being removed from the rolls.
The Election Commission has defended the exercise. It says the revision is needed to clean the rolls of duplicate and ineligible entries.
So far, more than one lakh appeals have been decided. The poll body says 93 percent of those were found eligible and kept on the rolls.
West Bengal will also hold municipal polls in November. The opposition has linked the revision to the coming elections.
The Chief Election Commissioner has said the process is transparent. Booth-level officers are verifying each entry, he said.
The court's decision could affect the revision timeline. All eyes are now on the October 30 hearing.
The revision covers all assembly seats in the state. Booth-level officers are visiting homes to verify entries.
