Nobel Peace Prize 2026 Winner to Be Named Today
The 2026 Nobel Peace Prize winner will be announced on Friday. The Norwegian Nobel Committee will name the laureate at 2:30 pm IST.
Donald Trump lashed out at the Nobel committee before the announcement. He also revived his criticism of Barack Obama, who won the prize in 2009.
Trump warned that denying him the prize would embarrass the committee. He has repeatedly claimed he settled eight wars and deserves the honour.
Last year, Venezuela’s Maria Corina Machado won the prize. Trump said she handed her medal to him and said he deserved it.
No candidate has broken into double digits on prediction markets this year. The committee keeps its shortlist secret.
The winner will receive the medal in Oslo in December.
The Peace Prize is the only Nobel awarded in Oslo. The others are given in Stockholm. Alfred Nobel’s will created the prize in 1895. The committee has faced criticism for past choices. This year’s decision comes amid global conflicts.
