Kotak Explains Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s T20I Recall

India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak has explained Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s return to the T20I squad. The 36-year-old seamer is back for the New Zealand series.
Bhuvneshwar last played a T20I in November 2022 against New Zealand. He has taken 90 wickets in 87 T20Is for India.
Kotak said experience and recent IPL performances helped his case. India are also managing Jasprit Bumrah’s workload. The team wants strong bench strength.
‘Experience matters, especially when we rotate bowlers,’ Kotak said. He added that depth helps the team handle a packed schedule.
Shreyas Iyer will lead India in the five-match series. Tilak Varma is the vice-captain.
The series begins in Christchurch on October 22. It includes five T20Is, five ODIs and two Tests.
India are also testing young pacers like Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav. The selectors want options for the packed calendar. Bhuvneshwar’s swing bowling could help in New Zealand conditions. His experience in pressure games is seen as a big plus.
