New Zealand’s Chapman, Foulkes Ruled Out Of India T20s

New Zealand batter Mark Chapman and fast bowler Zak Foulkes have been ruled out of the five-match T20 series against India through injury, New Zealand Cricket announced on Friday.
Chapman suffered a left hamstring tear during the European T20 League last month but is expected to recover for the ODI series. Foulkes injured his right hip flexor in a Canterbury training session, with no return timeline set.
All-rounder Josh Clarkson and fast bowler Blair Tickner replace them in the 16-man squad led by Mitchell Santner. Coach Rob Walter said he was “gutted for Mark and Zak” and wished them a smooth recovery.
New Zealand host India in five T20s, five ODIs and two Tests, starting with the first T20 in Christchurch on October 22. The two sides met in this year’s T20 World Cup final, which India won by 96 runs.
Losing Chapman hurts the batting depth, while Foulkes misses another chance to cement a spot in the attack. Walter backed the squad’s depth to cover the absences, with Chapman expected back in time for the ODI leg of the tour.
