Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s spy comedy Udta Teer releases in cinemas today, October 9.

The film is the pair’s second big-screen collaboration after Pati Patni Aur Woh Do. It is positioned as a humour-driven family entertainer built on chaos and comic situations.

Udta Teer marks the directorial debut of writer Akash A Kaushik. It is backed by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, and produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain.

The film was originally set for September 11 before being moved to October 9. Its first poster showed Ayushmann hanging between India and Pakistan milestones, hinting at a playful take on borders and nationalism.

It arrives a week after Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 3, which released on October 2. The holdover strength of that film could shape Udta Teer’s opening.

The film’s quirky first poster set the tone early. Ayushmann relaxing in a hammock between two border markers, with a goat in sunglasses behind him, signalled the film’s offbeat humour.

Netflix and Star Gold are associated with the project, while Sony Music handles the music. The makers will watch opening-day numbers closely.
