Trump unveils $2.4 billion tech pledge for federal AI mission

President Donald Trump has announced 2.4 billion dollars in computing commitments from major tech companies to power federal AI research. The pledges came at the White House science summit on Thursday.
Nvidia is contributing 1 billion dollars, the largest single pledge. AMD will give 500 million dollars. OpenAI is donating 200 million dollars, while Anthropic and Google have each pledged 150 million dollars. Smaller firms including AWS, Crusoe, and Micron are adding 50 million dollars each.
The money will support the Genesis Mission, a federal effort to use AI to improve scientific research. Fourteen agencies across energy, health, and space will take part. The mission launched in November 2025 through the Energy Department.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the investment puts advanced AI in the hands of American scientists to speed up breakthroughs in medicine, energy, and materials.
Trump has been pushing for wider AI adoption. He argues the greater risk is letting China win the AI race by slowing development at home. The summit brought together top tech executives and administration officials.
