TSMC Q3 Revenue Jumps 50% on AI Chip Demand

TSMC reported third-quarter revenue of TWD 1.49 trillion, up 50 percent from a year earlier. The world’s largest contract chipmaker beat market expectations.
September alone brought in TWD 551.9 billion, a jump of 54.6 percent year-on-year. The figure beat the consensus estimate of 1.46 trillion for the quarter.
The surge was driven by insatiable demand for AI chips. TSMC makes processors for the biggest names in artificial intelligence, and its factories are running at full tilt.
The results come in a record season for chipmakers. Samsung also guided to record profits this week on the same AI memory boom.
Analysts say the numbers show AI infrastructure spending is still accelerating. TSMC’s order books remain full, with customers competing for limited advanced-chip capacity.
TSMC’s advanced chips power everything from AI servers to smartphones. Its results are watched as a bellwether for global technology demand.
The company is also expanding capacity in Taiwan and the United States to meet future demand. Its Arizona fabs are ramping up production of cutting-edge chips.
