Paxton leads ‘Where is Talarico?’ chant at Trump Texas rally

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton led a “Where is Talarico?” chant at President Donald Trump’s San Antonio rally on Wednesday. Paxton said his Democratic Senate rival James Talarico had not been seen campaigning in Texas for 11 days. Talarico’s campaign said the candidate was diagnosed with the flu at an urgent care clinic in Dallas. He revealed the illness during a virtual forum with the US Hispanic Business Council on September 30. He was last seen in person at an event hosted by actor Robert De Niro in New York on September 28. “After holding more than 100 public events and shaking tens of thousands of hands, James came down with the flu but will be back on the trail this weekend,” campaign spokesperson JT Ennis said. Paxton’s campaign launched a “Where’s Jimmy?” ad tracking his absence. Trump mocked Talarico at the rally, calling him “Tala-freako” and claiming without evidence that he fell ill from eating meat for political reasons. Polls show a close race, with one New York Times/Siena poll putting Talarico ahead 51% to 45%.
