Jailer 2 overseas advances cross $1 million

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has crossed $1 million in overseas advance sales. The milestone was reported by trade trackers on October 8. The film releases worldwide on October 15.
Trade tracker Jerin Georgekutty had reported on October 7 that opening-day overseas pre-sales crossed Rs 7.70 crore, about $800,000. That was with only a limited number of screens open. More shows are being added daily.
The film is chasing Coolie’s overseas record. Coolie holds the biggest overseas opening for a Kollywood film at $8.75 million. Jailer 2’s US premiere sales stand at about $550,000, compared to Coolie’s $1.11 million at the same stage.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the sequel brings back Rajinikanth as Muthuvel Pandian. The cast adds S.J. Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan and Suraj Venjaramoodu. The film completed censor formalities on October 6.
The first Jailer film was a major commercial success in 2023. It collected over Rs 600 crore worldwide. That track record is driving the sequel’s advance sales. Trade analysts expect the numbers to grow in the final week. More screens will open as the release date nears. The film is one of the biggest Tamil releases of the year. A strong opening is crucial for its box office run.
