Vedanta declares Rs 5 per share first interim dividend of FY27

Vedanta has declared its first interim dividend for FY27 at Rs 5 per share. The announcement was made on October 8. The face value of the share is Re 1. The total payout is about Rs 1,955 crore.
The record date for the dividend is October 14. Shareholders on the company’s books on that date will get the payout. This is the first dividend since Vedanta completed its demerger.
Vedanta is one of India’s most consistent dividend payers. The company has a history of rewarding shareholders with large payouts. The demerger had created uncertainty about the dividend policy.
Analysts see the announcement as a positive signal. It suggests the company’s cash flows remain strong after the split. The dividend yield on the stock has improved with this payout. The market will watch for more interim dividends this year.
Analysts say the move will be welcomed by income investors. Vedanta’s dividend yield is among the highest in the metals sector. The company’s balance sheet has improved after the demerger. Debt levels are being reduced steadily. The stock has been in focus since the split was announced. Investors will now watch the Q2 results for more signals on payouts.
