KT Cloud to Build 50MW AI Data Centre in Incheon

KT Cloud has announced plans to design, build and operate a 50MW AI data centre in Cheongna, Incheon, with construction starting in the fourth quarter of this year and completion expected in early 2030.
The facility will include a liquid-cooled zone for high-density GPU servers alongside space for general cloud services. Hyundai Engineering will handle the architectural, civil and mechanical-electrical-plumbing work under an 870 billion won construction contract.
The Cheongna site sits within an hour of Seoul’s business districts and close to both Gimpo and Incheon international airports. KT Cloud plans to link it with its Gasan and Mokdong bases to support customer expansion.
The project is part of KT Cloud’s bigger ambition to build more than 1GW of AI data centre capacity by 2031, targeting global big tech firms and AI cloud providers. A separate Gunsan project will use full liquid cooling across every floor, a first for Korea.
South Korea is racing to become an AI infrastructure hub, with power availability the key battleground. KT Cloud’s phased build-out shows how seriously the country’s telecom giants are taking the AI boom.
