CBI Books Punjab CM’s OSD in Graft Case, Raids 8 Places

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a corruption case against Rajbir Singh Ghuman, Officer on Special Duty to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and five others. The agency also carried out searches at eight locations across Chandigarh and Punjab on Tuesday.
The searches covered the Chief Minister’s camp office in Sector 2, Chandigarh, and premises linked to Ghuman in Sangrur and Mohali. Investigators seized laptops, mobile phones and documents, according to officials. The digital devices have been sent for forensic examination.
The case follows an October 5 order of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, which directed the CBI to probe allegations flagged by the Enforcement Directorate. The agency said the alleged irregularities cover transfers and postings of officials, including IAS and IPS officers, as well as tenders, licences and land matters.
The other accused are Nitin Gohal, Jitin Gohal alias Raja, Romi Raja Mahajan, Bir Devinder and R.S. Nagra. Ghuman was summoned to the CBI’s Chandigarh office on Wednesday for questioning.
The Punjab government has challenged the High Court order in the Supreme Court. Chief Minister Mann has rejected the charges and accused the BJP-led Centre of misusing central agencies for political ends.
