Singapore launches FirstDate matchmaking for civil servants

Singapore has launched a government-run dating service for its civil servants.
The platform is called FirstDate. It was built by the Government Technology Agency and launched as a pilot in late September 2026.
It is open to public officers aged 21 to 35 who are single, widowed or divorced. Applications for the pilot closed on October 5.
Users log in with Singpass, the national digital identity system, and answer about 30 questions on interests, lifestyle and values.
Matching uses the Gale-Shapley algorithm, a Nobel Prize-winning economic framework. Users get one match per cycle with a compatibility score. Both sides have 72 hours to decide.
The move responds to Singapore’s record-low fertility rate. GovTech has not decided whether to open the service to the public.
