Tropical Storm Isaias Forms in Gulf, Florida on Alert

Tropical Storm Isaias formed in the Gulf on Wednesday and is forecast to strengthen into a Category 2 hurricane with winds of up to 110 mph before striking Florida.
Forecasters expect landfall late Friday or early Saturday. The storm is drawing energy from warm Gulf waters and could bring heavy rain, storm surge and damaging winds to coastal areas.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency in 25 North Florida counties. The declaration frees up state resources and puts emergency teams on standby.
Residents in the storm's path are being urged to stock supplies, secure property and follow evacuation orders if issued. Officials warned that conditions could change quickly.
Isaias is the latest in an active Atlantic season. Meteorologists say rapid intensification is possible as the storm moves over very warm water.
Emergency management agencies are coordinating with local authorities on shelters and rescue readiness. The next forecast update is expected within hours.
