JioHotstar Enters Middle East, North Africa With STARZPLAY
JioHotstar has entered the Middle East and North Africa through a partnership with regional streamer STARZPLAY.
The service will be available in a dedicated section, priced at AED 34.99 and AED 49.99 for its plans. It brings Indian films, shows and cricket to the region.
The MENA region has a large South Asian diaspora, making it a natural market for Indian content. JioHotstar is betting on demand for Bollywood and live sports.
STARZPLAY is among the region's leading streaming platforms. The partnership gives JioHotstar instant distribution across its footprint.
Indian streamers have been expanding abroad as domestic growth matures. The Middle East is a key battleground for South Asian content.
The companies said more localised offerings and originals for the region are on the roadmap.
The AED 34.99 and 49.99 plans target different viewer segments. Live cricket is expected to be a major draw for subscribers.
The launch will be promoted across STARZPLAY's regional platforms.
