Delhi doubles ASHA workers’ monthly incentive to Rs 6,000

Delhi’s frontline health workers are getting a raise. The government has doubled their monthly incentive from Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000.
The move benefits about 6,690 ASHA workers across the capital. ASHA stands for Accredited Social Health Activist. They work under the National Health Mission.
The announcement came on October 6. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu launched it at the ASHA Sammelan-2026 at Thyagraj Stadium. It is part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
ASHA workers do door-to-door health work. They support vaccinations, maternal care, and public health campaigns. Each worker covers about 2,000 people or 400 families.
The Cabinet had approved the hike on September 15. The Chief Minister said it recognises their role in primary healthcare.
The same event launched other health steps. These include a Nursing Home Management System portal, an expanded Mission ANMOL for newborn screening, and a new organ transplant coordination building at GB Pant Hospital.
