Karan Kapadia Fought to Cast Aneet Padda in Hunkkaar

Filmmaker Karan D Kapadia has revealed he fought to cast Aneet Padda in Hunkkaar: The Roar. He said he knew she was the right actor the moment the script was done. He made sure she came on board.
The six-part JioHotstar series follows 17-year-old Meenu Rawat, played by Padda. She accuses a powerful godman of rape. The story explores how society questions survivors long before a courtroom does. It is set in Kharganj, Madhya Pradesh.
Kapadia created the series with Nitya Mehra. The idea came from an article on sexual assault they read in 2024. They wanted to tell a story of hope and justice, not just horror. Fatima Sana Shaikh plays ACP Jasleen Singh. Raghubir Yadav and Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub also star.
The series streams on JioHotstar. It has drawn praise for Padda’s restrained performance. Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra Jonas have publicly appreciated the show. Purple Pebble Pictures backs the production.
