Jaguar Unveils 1,000 PS Electric Type 01 Coupe

Jaguar has unveiled the Type 01, an all-electric grand tourer that marks the British brand’s bold rebirth as an ultra-luxury EV maker. The car was revealed at a private event in New York on October 6, with a public debut planned for October 8.
The Type 01 is the first car built on Jaguar Electric Architecture, the brand’s new dedicated EV platform. It uses a tri-motor powertrain producing around 1,000 PS. A 118 kWh battery targets a range of up to 450 miles on the WLTP cycle.
Charging is equally ambitious. An 800-volt electrical system supports 350 kW DC fast charging, adding more than 200 miles of range in 15 minutes. A 10 to 80 percent charge takes about 22 minutes. Jaguar says the motors, batteries and power electronics are developed in-house in the UK.
Orders will open in early 2027, with first deliveries expected in the second half of the year. Pricing is expected to start around 130,000 pounds, roughly double what Jaguar charged before. The brand has shelved volume production to chase profit, aiming for 60,000 sales a year.
