Emmys Move to Prime Video in Six-Year Streaming Deal

The Emmy Awards are moving to Prime Video in a six-year deal announced by the Television Academy and Amazon on October 6. Prime Video will become the exclusive global home of the Emmys starting with the 2027 ceremony.
The deal ends the traditional Wheel Deal rotation among broadcast networks ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC, which has shared the awards for three decades. Viewers will not need a Prime subscription to watch, as the ceremony will stream live and free in more than 240 countries and territories. The show will continue to air live in September.
Reports put the deal’s value at around 15 million dollars per year, or roughly 90 million dollars over six years. The agreement also covers year-round Emmy programming and fan experiences on the platform.
Television Academy chair Cris Abrego said the move gives the Emmys a dedicated home with broader global reach. Prime Video head Mike Hopkins said the company was honoured to become the awards’ global home. The shift follows the Oscars’ move to YouTube starting in 2029.
