India, Switzerland sign MoUs on trade, mobility and research

India and Switzerland signed several agreements on October 5. The pacts cover trade, mobility and research.
A Young Professionals Scheme will allow 300 people per country each year. The number can rise to 500.
Other deals include a transport technologies pact and a research letter of intent. India’s DST and the Swiss National Science Foundation will deepen science ties.
The signing took place at Hyderabad House in New Delhi. PM Modi and Swiss President Guy Parmelin met for talks.
The agreements come a day before the India-EFTA Prosperity Summit. Both sides want the TEPA pact to deliver jobs and investment.
Switzerland is India’s largest EFTA trade partner. Over 330 Swiss companies operate in India. The TEPA pact took effect in October 2025. It promises $100 billion in investment over 15 years. The Young Professionals Scheme will ease work exchanges. Both leaders called the partnership ambitious. Parmelin is on a three-day visit to India. He will attend the EFTA summit on October 7. Talks also covered defence and nuclear energy.
