Ukraine’s 900-drone wave hits Moscow region, 2 killed, fuel hub burns

Russia’s Defence Ministry said its air defences intercepted nearly 900 Ukrainian drones overnight over multiple regions, occupied Crimea and the Sea of Azov. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said more than 650 drones flew toward the capital, most of them downed, with 105 destroyed as they approached the city.
Moscow region governor Andrei Vorobyov said two people were killed, a 71-year-old man and a 20-year-old man, and nine more were injured. Russian military bloggers said a major fuel depot, the Volodarsk oil storage facility near Konstantinovo, caught fire in the attack. The site supplies fuel to Moscow’s three main airports. There was no official confirmation that it was hit.
Ukraine has increasingly targeted oil refineries and depots, saying its strikes have disabled more than half of Russia’s refining capacity. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned of intelligence on Russia preparing a massive aerial strike and said countermeasures were being prepared. It was one of the biggest drone attacks of the war on Moscow and the surrounding region.
