JSW Energy shares rise as installed capacity grows 1,694 MW

Shares of JSW Energy rose more than 1 per cent on Tuesday to Rs 498.20 on the NSE after the company reported growth in its installed capacity. The power producer added 1,694 MW of installed capacity since April 2026, including around 1.4 GW of renewable capacity, according to market updates tracked through the session.

The capacity addition reflects the company’s steady push into clean energy as India races to meet its renewable targets. Power demand in the country has stayed strong through 2026, supporting earnings for utilities with large operating portfolios. Renewable assets now form a growing share of the company’s generation mix.

The stock’s midday move came on a broadly positive day for Indian equities, with the Sensex up 685 points and the Nifty 220 points higher. Investors have been watching capital expenditure and commissioning timelines across the power sector as companies add solar, wind and hybrid projects. JSW Energy’s renewable expansion positions it among the larger private green portfolios in the country.
