Nigerian Air Force plane crash in Ondo kills all 32 on board

All 32 people aboard a Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 aircraft died when it crashed in Ondo State on Monday morning. The military confirmed there were no survivors.

The aircraft went down in southwestern Nigeria. Officials said the identities of those killed, including their ranks and positions in the Air Force, had not yet been released. The Air Force later published the names of 25 of the victims, five crew members and 20 passengers.

President Bola Tinubu mourned the victims and ordered an investigation into the crash. The government declared a period of national mourning for those who died in service.

Military aircraft crashes are rare in Nigeria, and the Air Force has not yet said what caused this one. Investigators will examine the wreckage and flight data to find answers.

The crash is one of the deadliest involving the Nigerian military in recent years. Families of the victims are being notified, and the Air Force said it would support them. More details are expected as the investigation moves forward.
