S&P 500 nears record as Nasdaq closes at all-time high

US stocks started the week on a strong note. The Nasdaq Composite closed at a record high on Monday, and the S&P 500 moved to within 1 percent of its own record, powered by big technology shares.
Stock futures pointed higher on Tuesday morning as oil prices and government bond yields fell. Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.5 percent, while Nasdaq futures rose 0.7 percent.
The 10-year Treasury yield pulled back to 5.26 percent after setting another 24-year high of 5.31 percent on Monday. Easing worries that the Federal Reserve could raise rates again later this month helped sentiment.
Asian markets opened higher after Wall Street’s advance, and Brent crude hovered near $100 a barrel. Gold rose 1 percent to $4,205 an ounce as investors sought safety, while bitcoin traded around $86,100.
Analysts said markets will now watch US inflation data and the Fed’s next move for direction. With the Nasdaq at a record and the S&P 500 close behind, the AI-led rally faces its next test in the coming weeks.
