Sourav Ganguly named Delhi Capitals head coach for IPL 2027

Delhi Capitals on Tuesday announced former India captain Sourav Ganguly as their new head coach for the IPL 2027 season. Ganguly replaces Hemang Badani, who held the role for the last two seasons.
Ganguly’s association with the franchise goes back to 2019, when he joined as an advisor. He later served as Director of Cricket for both the men’s and women’s teams. Earlier this year, he led Pretoria Capitals to the SA20 final as head coach.
This will be Ganguly’s first stint as an IPL head coach. DC chairman and co-owner Parth Jindal said Ganguly’s experience, leadership and vision would help the side mount a stronger title challenge. Delhi finished sixth last season and have never won the IPL.
Ganguly said Delhi Capitals is a franchise close to his heart and he wants to build a strong, fearless team. His first tasks are to finalise the support staff and squad retentions before the November 15 deadline, with the mini auction set for mid-December in Goa.
