Board of Peace unveils $2.45 bn Gaza recovery plan

The Board of Peace has unveiled a six-month, $2.45 billion recovery plan for Gaza, laying out 66 projects to begin rebuilding the war-hit territory. The blueprint was presented on September 23 at a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The projects cover housing, diesel-powered electricity generation and waste removal. Among the largest are a $400 million plan for insulated caravans for displaced families and $275 million for debris clearance and unexploded ordnance management.
The board admitted a wide funding gap. While $18 billion has been pledged by donors, only $280 million has actually been disbursed. Full reconstruction is estimated to cost $71.4 billion over ten years.
Board member Jared Kushner acknowledged delays in several areas. US envoy Steve Witkoff said real progress had been made, noting all hostages are home and an imperfect ceasefire holds. Hamas disarmament and phased Israeli troop withdrawal remain the key sticking points, with upcoming Israeli elections adding to the uncertainty.
