Toshiba shows quantum-safe VPN with SpeQtral and HPE

Toshiba Asia Pacific has announced a validated quantum-safe communications solution developed with SpeQtral and HPE for critical infrastructure and government networks.
The solution integrates Toshiba’s Quantum-secure Networking Platform with HPE’s SRX Next Generation Firewall. It lets organisations add quantum-safe key material to existing IPsec VPN environments.
It combines two quantum-safe technologies. Post-Quantum Cryptography uses quantum-resistant algorithms. Quantum Key Distribution uses encryption keys generated by quantum physics.
The pairing gives defence-in-depth security without relying on a single technology. The system stays crypto-agile, so it can adapt to evolving standards.
The move targets “harvest now, decrypt later” risks, where encrypted data captured today could be decrypted by future quantum computers. IPsec is one of the most widely used protocols for securing sensitive data across data centres, cloud and operational systems. Government agencies and critical infrastructure operators are the primary audience.
The solution was validated in a live demonstration using commercial off-the-shelf components. Toshiba showcased it at Data Centre World Asia 2026, with the firewall on display at its new Demo Centre and showroom in Singapore.
