India, West Indies fined for slow over-rates in ODI

India and the West Indies have been fined for slow over-rates during the third ODI in New Chandigarh, the ICC said on Monday.
India were fined 20% of their match fee after being ruled four overs short of the required rate. The West Indies were fined 10% after being found two overs short. Players are fined 5% of the match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, under Article 2.22 of the ICC code.
Both captains pleaded guilty and accepted the sanctions, so no formal hearing was needed. Match referee Prakash Bhatt imposed the fines.
The charges were leveled by on-field umpires Jayaraman Madanagopal and Sam Nogajski, third umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid and fourth umpire Virender Sharma.
The West Indies won the match by five wickets, chasing down 352 in a record chase. India won the three-match series 2-1. The two sides now turn to a five-match T20I series starting October 6.
