Hope’s 162* powers record chase as Windies beat India

Shai Hope’s unbeaten 162 powered the West Indies to a record 352-run chase against India in the third ODI at New Chandigarh on Saturday.
Chasing 352, the West Indies reached 352 for five in 48.2 overs to win by five wickets. Hope’s 143-ball knock, with 17 fours and three sixes, is the highest individual score by a West Indies batter in a successful ODI chase, breaking Brian Lara’s 33-year-old record.
Aamir Jangoo made 67 off 56 balls in a 109-run stand with Hope. It was the West Indies’ first ODI win over India since 2023.
India had posted 351 for seven, with KL Rahul unbeaten on 129 off 87 balls and Rohit Sharma making 92. India still won the three-match series 2-1.
The series produced record scoring. India and West Indies scored 2,109 runs across three matches, the most in a three-match bilateral ODI series. The overall scoring rate of 7.43 is the highest for any ODI series of three or more matches.
