INDIA bloc MPs push at Akashvani gates in EC protest

INDIA bloc MPs tried to push open the gates of Akashvani Bhawan on Tuesday as they intensified their protest against the Election Commission of India.
The MPs were marching from Parliament House to the Election Commission’s office, Nirvachan Sadan, demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Heavy barricades and Rapid Action Force personnel were deployed around the area.
Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory for the New Delhi district. Traffic was regulated or diverted around Connaught Place, Parliament Street, Ashoka Road and Jantar Mantar from 8 am.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said the opposition would keep fighting to save democracy. Jairam Ramesh said MPs marched peacefully, while the Aam Aadmi Party said it would not join the march but was fighting the battle in its own way.
The protest centers on alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The bloc has announced district-level demonstrations till October 8 and a mega rally in Delhi on November 1.
