AMD’s Lisa Su holds closed-door TSMC talks in Taiwan

Taipei, October 6: AMD chief executive Lisa Su returned to Taiwan on Tuesday for a whirlwind visit centred on closed-door meetings with supply-chain partners.
The meetings reportedly include Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Hon Hai, Quanta, Wistron, Inventec and Pegatron. The goal is to secure advanced packaging, testing and substrate capacity for next year.
AMD needs the capacity for its MI450 AI servers entering volume production in late 2026 and the MI455 series shipping in 2027. Its Venice EPYC processor is already in mass production on TSMC's 2-nanometre process.
Su made a public appearance of about 15 minutes at midday. She travels to South Korea on October 8 for an AI semiconductor forum in Seoul and meetings with Samsung Electronics.
Samsung will supply the HBM3E high-bandwidth memory for AMD's AI products from next year. The visit comes less than five months after Su announced over 10 billion dollars of investment in Taiwan in May.
