Trump suggests Iran could ‘take out’ LA; Newsom hits back

Grand Island, October 6: President Donald Trump suggested during a Monday rally that Iran could "take out" Los Angeles and San Diego.
"It's a small price to pay for keeping the world safe, keeping our country safe," Trump said at the Grand Island, Nebraska rally. "They can take out a city. Let them take out Los Angeles, let them take out San Diego."
He was defending higher fuel prices caused by the US-Israel war on Iran. Iran's missiles currently cannot reach the United States.
California Governor Gavin Newsom called Trump "deranged and dangerous" on X. "After sending the National Guard and Marines to occupy California, Donald Trump is now saying our foreign enemies should 'take out' Los Angeles and San Diego," Newsom wrote.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass called the remark dangerous and said it could compromise the city's safety. San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria said his city was "not collateral damage" and "never a small price to pay."
The remarks circulated widely online within hours of the rally.
