Abhishek Varman is set to direct Gadadhari Bheem, a modern mythological superhero film backed by Dharma Productions.

The film is based on Bheem, one of the most popular characters from the Mahabharata. It will present him as a contemporary superhero rather than a traditional mythological figure.

The script is already locked, according to reports. The makers are now moving toward casting and are looking for an A-list star for the title role. No actor has been confirmed yet.

The project will be mounted on a massive budget as a tentpole theatrical release. It will combine Indian mythology with large-scale action and visual effects.

This is Varman’s third collaboration with Dharma Productions. He earlier directed 2 States and Kalank for the banner. It is also Dharma’s first superhero film.

Karan Johar is said to be excited about the project. The film is designed as a big-screen experience with a strong focus on emotion and spectacle.
