Five Killed in Russian Strike on Kharkiv

Russian bombs killed at least five people and wounded 53 in Ukraine’s Kharkiv on Monday, the regional governor said.
The strikes hit a residential area of the city. Thirty people, including three children, were hospitalised, Kharkiv governor Oleh Syniehubov said on Telegram.
The attack came a day after Russia struck the city twice on Sunday, killing one person and wounding six in the Industrialnyi district. A Russian Banderol missile was reportedly used in that strike.
Ukrainian officials said Odesa region ports were also attacked, with drone strikes damaging infrastructure and injuring one worker. The strikes come as Russia intensifies attacks on Ukraine’s energy and civilian targets ahead of winter.
Rescue teams worked through the night to search for survivors in the damaged buildings. Local authorities opened emergency shelters for residents whose homes were hit. The UN has repeatedly condemned strikes on residential areas. Ukraine’s air force said air defences intercepted some of the incoming weapons, but several got through.
