Noida Airport Explained: What DXN Means for NCR Travellers

Noida International Airport, also called Jewar Airport, began commercial operations on June 15, 2026, giving the National Capital Region its second major airport. Here is what travellers need to know about the new gateway, coded DXN.
The airport was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 28, 2026. It sits in Jewar, Gautam Buddh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, about 75 km southeast of central Delhi along the Yamuna Expressway. The first commercial flight, IndiGo 6E-2278, arrived from Lucknow, notably carrying 172 local farmers who had given land for the project.
Three airlines currently operate from DXN: IndiGo, Air India Express, and Akasa Air, starting with limited daytime domestic services. International flights are expected later in 2026 as operations scale up. For residents of Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad, DXN can cut hours off the trip to Delhi’s IGI airport. Always check whether your ticket says DEL or DXN before heading out.
