Delhi Poll Camps See Low Turnout, BLOs Knock Doors

Special camps set up at 14,947 polling stations across Delhi saw low turnout on October 5, according to a city news roundup. Booth Level Officers are now going door to door to distribute notices and encourage voter participation.
The camps are part of the ongoing electoral roll exercise in the capital. Low footfall at such camps is a concern for election officials, who rely on them to update voter lists and enrol new voters.
The development comes as Delhi's electoral machinery faces wider scrutiny. Opposition parties are protesting alleged voter-roll manipulation and demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, with a march to the Election Commission office planned.
Door-to-door visits are the traditional fallback when camps underperform. Officers carry forms, notices and voter education material to homes. Whether the personal outreach lifts enrolment numbers will show in the coming days. For now, the empty camps are a reminder that voter registration still needs a nudge.
